Two Souls
“Two Souls”
I came upon them on a quiet bend in the trail–
one wide, grounded, full of presence;
the other slender, rising with quiet grace.
Two souls.
Not the same, but side by side.
They weren’t competing.
They weren’t trying to become each other.
They were simply… together.
Rooted in the same patch of earth,
reaching toward the same sky.
Each honoring the shape the other had taken.
And I stood there longer than I meant to,
because something in their stillness
spoke to something in me.
It reminded me
that we don’t all have to grow the same way.
That strength takes many forms.
That sharing space
isn’t about sameness,
but about respect.
Maybe the world needs both—
the broad shoulders and the gentle arc.
The shade-giver and the sunlight-seeker.
The ones who anchor
and the ones who rise.
And maybe, when we stand beside each other,
just as we are,
there is more room for everyone to grow.
